1. Service Description
Townline AI (“the Service”) is a civic intelligence platform designed for property owners in participating communities. The Service aggregates publicly available municipal records, zoning codes, meeting transcripts, and permit filings into a searchable interface with AI-powered analysis tools.
2. Account Terms
You must provide a valid email address to create an account. Authentication is handled via magic link or supported OAuth providers. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account. Townline AI is not liable for any loss or damage resulting from unauthorized access to your account.
3. Subscription, Auto-Renewal, and Cancellation
Townline AI offers two plans: a Free plan (5 lifetime questions, no charge) and an Unlimited plan ($9.99 per month, recurring).
By subscribing to the Unlimited plan, you authorize Townline to charge your payment method $9.99 every month, automatically and without further notice, until you cancel. Your subscription continues and renews automatically on a monthly basis at the then-current price (currently $9.99/month).
You may cancel at any time from your Account page (Settings & billing → Manage billing) or by emailing hello.townline@gmail.com. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current monthly billing period; you retain Unlimited access until that date. Refunds are not provided for partial billing periods. We will notify you by email at least 7 days before any price change takes effect. This disclosure is provided pursuant to California Business and Professions Code §17602.
4. Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- Redistribute, resell, or commercially exploit municipal data obtained through the Service.
- Use automated scripts, bots, or crawlers to extract data from the Service at scale.
- Attempt to circumvent subscription restrictions or access controls.
- Use the Service for any unlawful purpose or in violation of applicable laws.
- Interfere with or disrupt the Service or its infrastructure.
5. AI Output and Verification
Townline uses large language models (Anthropic Claude) to summarize and analyze public municipal records. AI-generated responses may be inaccurate, incomplete, or fabricated (“hallucinated”), including but not limited to incorrect zoning calculations, misquoted ordinance text, or misattributed source documents.
Every response includes citations to original source documents. You are solely responsible for verifying any AI output against the cited source before relying on it for any planning, permitting, financial, or legal decision. Townline is not a substitute for advice from a licensed attorney, architect, planner, or town official.
6. Disclaimers
The information provided through Townline AI is for informational purposes only. While we strive for accuracy by sourcing directly from official municipal records, Townline AI does not guarantee the completeness, accuracy, or timeliness of any information presented.
Townline AI is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or officially connected to your local town government or any municipal governing body.
7. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Townline AI and its operators shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the Service, including but not limited to decisions made based on information provided by the Service. Our aggregate liability for any direct damages is capped at the greater of (a) $100 or (b) the amount you paid Townline in the 12 months preceding the event giving rise to the claim. This cap does not limit liability for fraud, willful misconduct, or any liability that cannot be limited under California Civil Code §1668.
8. Account Suspension and Termination
We may suspend or terminate your account, with or without notice, for material breach of these Terms (including the Acceptable Use policy in §4), suspected fraud, or where required by law. We may also discontinue the Service at any time; if we do so for a paid subscriber, we will refund any prepaid amounts covering the period after discontinuation.
9. Changes to Terms
We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. Material changes will be communicated via email to registered users at least 30 days before they take effect. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
10. Governing Law
These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of California, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. Any disputes arising under these Terms shall be resolved in the courts of San Mateo County, California.
